XTRF and the Monterey Institute of International Studies (US) Announce a Partnership

13/08/14 09:33 Archived in: Press Releases
On August 25, The Monterey Institute of International Studies will integrate XTRF – one of the leading ERP systems on the localization market – into the course Localization Project Management. This course is part of the Translation and Localization Management (TLM) program at MIIS. With the addition of XTRF, students will be on the cutting edge of learning how complex localization projects are managed. The course program targets students who are seeking to build the practical skills that are required on today’s localization market.

The TLM program was created to respond to the language industry’s growing demand for highly-skilled and professionally-trained localization employees. When it comes to project management in TLM, students will learn how to manage localization projects using XTRF-type systems, use collaboration tools such as vendor portals and learn more about localization challenges and emerging trends. The use of actual systems such as XTRF, memoQ, or Memsource will provide “real-world” context to the course. Incoming first-year translation and TLM students who sign up for the course will experience the addition of XTRF this fall. The course runs from August 25 to December 12, 2014. Read More...

05/06/14 12:59 Archived in: General Information
RR Donnelley (RRD), a US$11 billion company in print, digital, and supply chain solutions announced earlier this year it would buy MultiCorpora, a developer of translation automation software. Thirty days after the acquisition was completed, we spoke with Christophe Djaouani, Vice President and Managing Director of RR Donnelley Language Solutions, and Nicolas Bosovsky, Global Operations Director, about their plans for the technology they acquired with MultiCorpora. The top-line message is that RR Donnelley will continue to sell MultiTrans Prism as standalone software, independent of its translation services, as well as using the technology internally to deliver language services for clients. What does this purchase mean for RR Donnelley, MultiCorpora customers, and the market?

Plunet’s Business and Translation Management System Version 5.6 Released

29/01/14 22:50 Archived in: Press Releases
Berlin, January 29, 2014 – New year starts with the release of Version 5.6 of Plunet’s business and translation management system. The latest version features further developments of the system’s key project and business management functionalities. Professional translation agencies and language services using Plunet 5.6 will have a management software at their fingertips that offers the best possible support for the industry’s unique requirements.

Systematic Project Management in Plunet 5.6: Defining Master and Sub-Projects
The latest Plunet version allows the creation of a structured hierarchy with translation master projects and associated sub-projects. Translation agencies and language services are often faced with the challenge of having to create hierarchical structures for specific projects. The methodologies used in the industry can now be comprehensively and clearly mapped in Plunet 5.6. An order can be created in Plunet as a master project with the option to add any number of sub-projects: possible sub-projects could be associated orders, requests, or quotes. But that’s not all: the newly introduced hierarchy option can be of particular interest for agencies or translation departments working to a budget. In the new version, budgets are no longer assigned to individual orders only – but to master projects and their associated sub-projects instead. The new functionality furthermore generates automated warning messages when budget limits are exceeded, offers clearly definable budget entry and editing rights, and a history log for more security and traceability.
